Invoice finance UK

What is invoice finance?

Invoice finance lets a business that sells to other businesses on credit borrow against its unpaid invoices. A provider advances typically 70% to 95% of each invoice straight away, then pays you the balance, minus fees, when your customer pays.

It is ideal if you offer 30-day or longer payment terms and late payments are holding back growth, payroll or supplier payments. Because the facility is linked to your sales ledger, the funding available grows as your sales grow.

You can choose confidential invoice discounting, where you keep control of collections and customers don't know, or factoring, where the provider runs credit control for you. Selective options let you finance individual invoices only.

FAQs

Invoice finance questions

What is invoice finance?

Invoice finance lets UK businesses selling B2B on credit terms quickly access cash tied up in outstanding invoices. Instead of waiting weeks or months for payment, a provider advances funds, usually within 24 to 48 hours.

What are the main types of invoice finance?

Factoring, where the provider manages your sales ledger and collects payments, and invoice discounting, a confidential option where you keep control of collections. Selective invoice finance lets you fund individual invoices.

How much funding can I access?

Lenders typically advance 70% to 95% of the value of eligible invoices. The rest, minus fees, is paid when your customer settles. The rate depends on the lender, your industry and your customers' credit profile.

How much does invoice finance cost?

Costs are usually a service fee (a percentage of turnover or a fixed fee) plus a discount charge, similar to interest, on the money you draw. We'll show the full cost of each option before you choose.

Will my customers know?

Not with confidential invoice discounting. With factoring, the provider collects payments, so customers usually know.
