What is padel court finance?
Padel court finance is funding that spreads the cost of building or upgrading padel courts, and the canopies, lighting and facilities around them, over monthly payments. It usually combines asset finance for the court systems and equipment with a business loan or other funding for groundworks, building works and fit-out.
Padel projects are capital-heavy. Even a small outdoor installation involves court enclosures, artificial turf, lighting, a ring beam, base and drainage, and a canopy adds a further structure, foundations and drainage design. Bigger venues may also need a building conversion, a clubhouse, a café or bar, changing rooms and booking technology.
As a broker, we look at the whole project and help you split it in the way lenders are most likely to support. Some lenders on our panel will fund court systems and canopies on asset finance; others prefer to see those combined with a loan, your own investment and, for some clubs, sport-specific funding. We'll work alongside your court supplier, contractor and accountant so the funding fits the build programme.
Fund court systems, glass and mesh enclosures, turf and canopy structures, subject to lender.

Typical padel court costs
The LTA's 2025 padel court construction guidance gives indicative installed costs, excluding VAT and fees, based on delivered projects. It puts a single court with lights, plus the ring beam, base, ducting and drainage, at around £71,000, rising to around £268,000 for four courts. A canopy over the courts, including foundations, drainage and a rain screen, is put at around £95,000 for one court and around £316,000 for four.
These are guides only. The LTA notes that location and site conditions will determine the final cost, and planning consent is required for new courts and for canopies or indoor structures. Clubhouse works, building conversions, professional fees and VAT sit on top, so get firm quotes before you set your funding budget.
The LTA Facility Loan Scheme
The LTA's Facility Loan Scheme, funded by the LTA Tennis Foundation, supports venues expanding their facilities and prioritises covered courts. For outdoor and covered padel, the LTA says it can invest up to 50% of the project cost with a repayment term of up to five years, depending on financial need, participation impact and affordability.
It is not open to everyone. The LTA says applicants must be properly constituted, not for profit, inclusive and accessible, and it cannot fund individuals or companies limited by shares. Applicants need adequate security of tenure, and the LTA may take security, including a legal charge on the land for larger loans. Commercial padel operators will usually need other funding, but if you run a not-for-profit tennis club adding padel, it's worth checking the LTA's current terms alongside commercial options.
What lenders want to see
Padel is a growing sport, but lenders will still look hard at each project. The stronger your preparation, the wider your choice of lenders is likely to be.

Padel Power, Northampton
We helped Padel Power arrange funding for its venue in Northampton, a project involving multiple courts and work on the building. In the customer's interview, they described seven double padel courts and two singles padel courts, alongside a pickleball court, table tennis, a gym and a Pilates studio.
In their words: "Working with NexGen is so quick and easy. Those guys are only ever a phone call away." That is one customer's experience; funding times and outcomes vary according to the application and provider requirements.
What lenders typically look at
Business plan and cash flow forecast for the venue
Quotes from your court supplier, canopy supplier and contractor
Planning consent or planning application details
Site ownership details or a copy of the lease
Latest accounts and bank statements for existing businesses or clubs
Owner or director details and relevant experience
Things to consider
Courts, canopies and equipment funded on asset finance are security for the agreement and may be repossessed if repayments aren't kept up.
Personal guarantees are commonly requested, especially for new venues and first-time operators.
New venues have no trading history, so lenders may ask for a larger contribution or limit how much they fund.
Groundworks, bases and building works have little resale value, so they are harder to fund on asset finance.
Planning delays, site conditions and drainage requirements can push up costs and timescales; build in a contingency.
Court utilisation can be seasonal, particularly for uncovered courts, so forecast cautiously.

FAQs
Padel court finance questions
Can I get finance to build padel courts?
Often, yes. Court systems, canopies and lighting can usually be funded on asset finance, while groundworks and building works may need a business loan or your own investment. Lenders will want to see a solid business plan, a suitable site and planning consent.
How much does a padel court cost?
The LTA's 2025 guidance puts a single floodlit court with base and drainage at around £71,000, excluding VAT and fees, with a canopy adding around £95,000 for one court. Costs vary with site conditions, so get firm quotes before you finalise funding.
Can a new padel business get finance?
It's possible, but start-up venues are seen as higher risk. Expect lenders to look for operator experience, a realistic plan, your own contribution and often a personal guarantee.
Can I use the LTA Facility Loan Scheme?
The LTA says the scheme is for properly constituted, not-for-profit venues and is not available to individuals or companies limited by shares. If you're a not-for-profit club, check the LTA's current terms; commercial operators usually need other funding.
Can I finance a canopy over existing courts?
Yes, canopies can often be funded on their own. Lenders will want to see planning approval and quotes covering the structure, foundations and drainage, which the LTA recommends are designed by a structural engineer.
Is Nexgen a lender?
